Rebates for ‘new’ cars only Posted on June 8th

Q: On April 21 I purchased a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The dealer Web site was offering $3,000 rebates for ‘07, ‘08 and ‘09 Sonatas. When negotiating price, I asked about the rebate and was told the information was old. I accepted that, until I read the Tribune Transportation section and saw the 2007 Sonata rebate listed that didn’t expire until April 30.

I called Hyundai USA to ask what was required to qualify and was told there was a rebate on new, unsold ‘07 Sonatas, which some dealers keep in stock. I called the dealership again but was told there weren’t any rebates on 2007 Sonatas though it was still on their Web site. If there was a $3,000 rebate on ‘07 Sonatas in April, what did I need to purchase to qualify? Who should I contact next?
